Activities

At the V&A. Photo by Marina Allan

Recognising that carers need time away from their caring responsibilities, Camden Carers Centre organises days out from time to time. These range from theatre and museums visits (see right) to canal boat and garden trips to picnics. Many of them are free, some have a small contribution charge.

Activities for stroke carers

We also run a programme of activities especially for carers of stroke survivors. In January we held a New Year lunchtime social and in March a matinee theatre trip is planned. Watch this space!

For all carers:

British Museum exhibition previews, 'behind the scenes' visits and object handling sessions

Over the last four years CCC has actively participated in the British Museum's Community Outreach Project. Carers can attend community previews of major exhibitions and also visit as a group for object handling sessions getting 'hands on' with art works from the teaching collection plus having guided visits to particular parts of the main collection.

The next object handling session will be on Friday afternoon 2nd March. We will be handling and discussing fertility objects, talismans and good luck charms. If you would like to participate, please contact Deborah at the CCC office - either by phone or email info@camdencarers.org.uk

The theme of the last session was weapons. See below for some entertaining images!

The last two communtiy previews were in January to see 'Hajj: Journey to the heart of Islam' and last October to see 'The Tomb of the Unknown Craftsman'.
